Pediatric Support 1.7

This application, Pediatric Support, is designed for use by healthcare professionals to assist in managing pediatric emergency situations. It aims to streamline the response process by providing configured protocols based on the selected language and treatment guidelines, either from the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) or the American Heart Association (AHA).

To utilize the app effectively, users input the child's age and weight, which allows all functions and calculations to automatically adjust to the child's specific parameters. This feature helps ensure precise application of protocols and medication dosages.

The application encompasses a variety of functional areas, including:

1. Interventions and Material:
   • Advanced life support: Guidance on airway clearance, defibrillation, chest compressions, and intraosseous access.
   • Cardioversion procedures.
   • Mechanical ventilation: Basic ventilatory settings tailored to the child's characteristics.
   • Vital signs monitoring: Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate appropriate for the patient's age.
2. Medication Management:

   The app categorizes drugs into four groups:

   • Advanced Life Support drugs (A)
   • Parenteral drugs (B)
   • Enteral and Inhaled drugs (C)
   • Intravenous Infusions (D)

   Included medications comprise a comprehensive list such as:

   • Adenosine, Amiodarone, Epinephrine, Lidocaine, Magnesium Sulfate, Naloxone, among others.
   • Inhaled agents like Albuterol/Salbutamol and Ipratropium Bromide.
   • Various fluids and electrolytes including Colloids, Crystalloids, Calcium Chloride.
3. Algorithms and Reference Tables:

   The application offers access to diagnostic algorithms and tables addressing conditions such as airway obstruction, anaphylaxis, asthma management, cardio-respiratory rhythms (shockable and non-shockable), convulsions, epileptic status, shock assessment, and more.

4. Audio-Visual Aids:

   A metronome feature maintains chest compression rate at 110 beats per minute. Additionally, audible guides assist in following rhythm sequences during defibrillation—switchable between shockable and non-shockable protocols—based on real-time assessment within a 20-second evaluation window. These guides align with ERC and AHA recommendations and can only be changed immediately after rhythm analysis until procedures are reset.

5. Timers:

   The app includes a timer function to monitor durations of interventions such as chest compressions or advanced support activities.

This tool is grounded in current medical guidelines from the 2015 ERC and AHA guidelines on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. For safe medication use, users are advised to consult individual drug technical sheets to verify indications, contraindications, dosing protocols, and safety information.
